Trasylol (aprotinin), manufactured by Bayer, is an injectable drug used to prevent blood loss during surgical procedures. According to a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine on January 26, 2006, the use of Trasylol doubles the risk of kidney failure and stroke.  It also increases the risk of heart attack or heart failure by 55%.
